Coronary Ligament Sprain

What is a coronary ligament sprain?

The coronary ligament is part of the fibrous joint capsule or the knee. It attaches to the edge of the cartilage meniscis and to the adjacent part of the tibia or shin bone.

How is it caused?

A coronary ligament sprain is often caused by a twisting of the knee. It has very similar symptoms to that of a torn meniscus. It is common that this injury occurs in conjunction with a grade 1 medial meniscus injury.

Symptoms include:

  • Tenderness along the joint line of the knee?
  • Suffered a twisting of the knee but no swelling?
  • McMurray's test may cause is performed?

A doctor or surgeon can:

  • Confirm the diagnosis with an arthroscopy
