Why do I need one?
A support or brace provides protection and support. Some retain the heat produced by the body in a specific area and so aids healing.
Heat encourages blood vessels to dilate and so allows more blood to the injured area. The more blood that gets to the injured area, the more nutrients it will get and the faster it will heal.
The hinged brace contains metal reinforcements in the sides, combined with a gear in the middle to allow it to move. This provides excellent lateral support to protect the medial and lateral ligaments.
The stabilized knee support shown below has reinforced side panels to provide extra support over the standard knee support - again helping to provent sideways stress on the knee ligaments.
