I injured left leg just below knee in a racquetball tourny 6 weeks ago.
leg collapsed suddenly and I susequently could not run or move sideways or leg would collapse (yes, I finally forfeited the match!)
have gone from severe initial pain (4-5days, could not walk) to hospital to physical therapy(2x week radiation trmts) to "final" orthopedic dr check up 2 weeks ago.
initially they thought ACL, then LCL, but the orthopedic dr said ligaments and knee is now stable, he was not 100% sure the diagnosis, but said probably a bad sprain and slight chance of a menescus tiny tear (he was 85% sure this was not it)
he said recovery will be slow and gradual..take it easy to not re-agravate it.
No MRI needed, no surgery he said
I am now walking 1-2 hours about 5 times a week, pool walking (some running in pool) 2x week and now light bike riding. to try to get healthy and keep moving
progress has been there but VERY slow after 6 weeks.
NO running yet and of of course, RB out of the question now.
stairs are a bit uncomf, but I am getting around.
knee / below knee ok and w/o pain but frequently feels tight and restricted, esp when at the desk for hours, until I walk and loosen it up

Q: am I just being impatient for a fast recovery, or could there still be a tear or something they missed? I'm 45 year old active male, and lack of running and RB driving me nuts.(I've played RB seriously for 15+ years w/o injury)

How long should this take to get to running stage and will it ever "heal" 100%
still wondering,
thanks, Pat
