I was wondering if anyone could shed a little light as to whats wrong with me.

I'll start from the beginnning;

About three months ago i was doing a fairly heavy 45 degree leg press when i felt something tighten up in my right inner thigh (groin).

I rested for a few weeks untill it felt okay and went to play football (soccer). It was only a training game so i was really only playing at 75% maximum effort, but again after about 30 minutes i felt something tighten up in the same place.

I rested again for another two weeks and repeated the process above (i know - stupid as i didn't leave it long enough) and had to stop the game midway through. The day after i had pain in both legs centralised around my adductors and groin. It hurt when i sneezed and hurt when i squezzed my legs together.

Fearing the worst i assumed it could be a hernia / gilmores groin so went to see my physio. He did an initial assessment and biomechanial analysis and established it was more than likely a groin/adductor tear as the pain was diminisshing weekly and was not condusive with symptoms of either a hernia or gilmores groin.

I have had 6 weeks worth of massage both on my adductors and my psoas. The reason for this is i am also presenting pain in the front of my hips on both sides.

The phsio deduced that i more than likely had a problem with my psoas which is referring pain into my adductors. I have been stretching twice a day and for the last two weeks i've been doing a lot of core work.

I can now use the bike and cross trainer as well as swim which i could not do previously so there is definitly improvement however i'm still unable to run (quickly), i can jog for about 10 minutes at 10kmh without much grief (just a little pain in my hip area when i do).

My question is this; does the diagnosis sound correct and secondly what time of timeframe do these injuries require to heal.

Hello. Your problem sounds a bit similar to mine as I too have had the hip pain (as well as the groin pain) which has prevented me from jogging and even extended walking.

Would you mind telling me a little more about what you've done to improve your situation as mine has lasted for 6 months and is showing no signs of improving. Don't let this depress you because I'm probably a lot older than you (57) and stupidly continued running for weeks after the initial groin (adductor) strain. So your problem will probably resolve much quicker than mine.

I'd like to know a little more about the type of massage treatment you had, the streching exercises and the core strengthening.

Also, do you experience tightness in you hamstrings and calves?

Thanks.

Hi

The Psoas can be a troublesome muscle and so it may be the cause. The only other thing I would suggest looking at is the piriformis muscle in the buttock.

If this is tight it can radiate pain through the leg. Usually this is into the hamstrings and sometimes calf, but it can also radiate into the hip, hip flexors and groin.

Its only a suggestion, but worth checking out.

Heidi, sounds alot like Osteitis Pubis. You need an MRI to confirm the massive inflammation in your pubic bone. Much of your activity you do at this time to stretch/strengthen will just further exacerbate the condition b/c you sound like you are in the acute stage. Again, you need a bone scan, but better yet, an MRI to confirm. You need an orthopedist MD to order you the MRI in the states. Where are you from?
The information on this site as to how to help with OP is not complete, and in its short form, is misleading. I replied to another one of your posts, and hope that you will check it out. All the best, and feel free to contact me directly for more information.
