I strained my groin towards the end of nov. 2008. I had alot of muscle spasms in both legs cause which ended up giving me shin splints in my left leg I continued to work for 2 days before I went to get it checked.. The ER doc told me I might be out for 6 weeks. When I went to see my regular doc... for my follow up after 2 weeks she said I can go back to work..At my job I do alot of walking..My groin seems better with some minor discomfort and pain.. Now what's bothering me more is behind my knee of my right leg. That's the side of the groin strain..Behind my knee seems a little bit swollen (been putting ice) and stiffiness having a hard time to bend it without pain.. Could this have to do with my groin??? how long will it take??
Any ideas of how to get my leg back in order???
Also trying to do some stretches..but is it ok to do them even when you have pain?? still..

Hi

Don't stretch into pain. All you should feel is a pulling sensation in the muscle you are trying to stretch. If theres pain then stop. Same as any other exercises.

Your problem sounds as though it may be related to the initial groin strain. Possibly when the groin was painful you altered your walking style and have now overused another musclce or strained a ligament.

This is impossible to know without assessing you to see the exact area of pain, getting a full history and watching you walk.

For this reason you really should go to a injury specialist who can do all of this for you. In the meantime, ice after activity, stretch (pain free) and rest as much as possible.

Good luck!
