Hi Everyone,

Two days ago I noticed a soreness in my foot when walking on it, it almost felt like pain in the bone in my foot. It wasn't sensitive to the touch and only hurt when I put weight on it. Thinking it was just sore, I went running again but was only able to complete half of my normal run before having to stop from the pain. I typically do 5 or 6 miles 4 or 5 times a week; the night before the pain started, I was feeling strong and did 7 miles so I think that may have triggered whatever this is, even though it doesn't seem as if 1 extra mile should cause this.

Today is my second day off and it still hurts to walk on it and gets worse after being on it (even for only a half hour walking around). A slight redness/bruise developed yesterday and I took a picture since it's all I have to show, should be attached to this post.

I was recently laid off and am without health insurance at the moment so I'm hoping this is something I can treat on my own. Any advice that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a problem very similar to this, which came on a few hours after a marathon on 4 may still have it now. Went to a phyisio on friday, he said it could be peroneal tendon problem. I got a deep massage and this helped a bit although there is still a slight pain when I walk. I haven't tried running yet, but very frustrated at having to rest it. There is a very good section in this website.

Hope this helps

If you find a cure please let me know.

Hey there,
Thanks for the response. From what I've found online since posting, I also thought it might be peroneal tendonitis. I've been staying off of it and keeping it in an ace bandage whenever I had to walk on it and it seems to have helped quite a bit. I could barely walk the first couple days but am doing much better now.
I plan on going for a short, easy run in the next few days because I'm getting antsy and feeling increasingly better. I'll let you know what the result is...
Thanks again!

I've rested for a few days now, there is a very slight pain but still noticeable. I'm not planning another run until 17 may so between now and then I'm going to do a bit of walking and a few miles on the bike. I'm taking ipubrofen and stretching my calves hoping that will help. I really miss running and looking forward to getting back to it.

Please keep me up to date on how your run goes.

Good Luck
