Hi
5 minutes of ultrasound is probably enough. Generally the amount of time depends on the area being treated, but I think this sounds about right. I tend to use 3 minutes for tendon/ligament injuries.
Did you get any other treatment? Massage? Stretching? A rehab programme? These are all things I would expect.

i was given some stretches to do , just the basic ones.
i was told to keep jogging but that was about it .
i am able to sprint a little bit now but if i try to kick a ball it hurts, any idea why

Kicking a ball may hurt for one of two reasons.
If the pain is after the kick and more at the follow through, then this is the eccentric contraction of the hamstrings to decelerate the forward movement of the leg.
If it hurts earlier in the kick phase, it is more likely the stretching of the hamstring muscle.
Either way it basically means the hamstrings aren't ready to be doing it! Stretching and eccentric strengthening is what you need to do before you can progress and get back to sport.
