View Full Version : Thigh injury

I was wondering if I could get some help or opinions from the forum here.
Yesterday I was playing in a rugby match and sustained a left leg injury. I had the ball and was running diagonally left. As I extended my left leg to plant and push off, an opponent jumped on my back and tackled me. My leg was fully extended and straight on the ground when I was jumped upon. I immediately felt some pain, which I thought was coming from my knee, as it felt as if my knee/thigh had shifted down past my shin. I was examined on the field by the EMT on site but he couldn't pin anything down. After massaging it for a few minutes, and making sure I could move it, I returned and played the rest of the match.

Afterwards, once all the adrenaline was out of my system it really started to hurt, but more in my thigh/quad area on the front and left side of the upper leg. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate the pain at about a persistent 5, and when I would try to walk on it it would increase to 6.5/7.

Today is the day after the game, and it still feels sore, even when I am lying down and not putting any weight on it. It also feels generally weak, like I can't summon any strength from it. I can bend and extend my leg without the pain getting much worse. I have just been icing and resting it so far.

Can anyone please help me with a rough diagnosis, and any advice on what to do to try and rehab it, as I would like to play in next weekend's match.

Thank you all.
