During a football game, one of my players had an opposing player fall on his chest... He complained of pain around the right side of his ribs... when I applied pressure to the sides and squeeze a little, there was a pop, and it relieved some of his pain... today, one day later, the rib (s) still seem to be subluxing with actions such as laughing...

so A, is my assessment right? that it is a subluxing rib or ribs, and B, how long is the normal recovery and return to play for this injury? I read 1-2 months of rest...

thanks for your replies

So I am an Occupational Therapist in orthopedics and I have this same issue. I am seeing the best PT in our clinic who has tried taping me....but it still pops out. Another option to consider might be prolotherapy....where they inject a substance to create scarring in effort to create stability. Alternatively I was informed that there was a surgical option as well....not sure what that is....best of luck
