Okay, I have a weird injury to report. About three weeks ago I had arthroscopic surgery on my left shoulder to tighten the joint capsule. About four days later I had to make a trip to the ER for nausea and vomiting due to the 1,500 MG of Vicodin my surgeon gave me for pain. The doctor at the ER had a nurse give me an injection in my right arm (the good arm) with an anti-nausea med and pain reliever. When the nurse stuck the icepick of a needle in my tiny little arm, I think she injured a nerve and a muscle. I didn't say anything while at the ER cause in general shots hurt, but for the past two weeks weird things have been happening. For the first week, I had a numb section on my arm and when I lifted my arm out to the side the muscle on the outside of the arm up to the shoulder would stand up! Yes, stand up, as in a bodybuilder like muscle bulge. For the second week till now, the numb section hurts like crazy, even the skin hurts like a severe sunburn, the muscle is still acting like it's paralyzed, and know my shoulder is starting to slip out of socket downwards with a pain like none other. What could be going on here?

I have the exact same injury! Did you ever find out what it is or how to fix it?

I went in for food poisioning about 7 weeks ago and they gave me that anti nausea shot in my arm. It hurt like no shot I have ever felt before (and I have had many injections in the military). a few days later I noticed my arm was really sore! When I held my Arm out to the side, my muscle was standing up just as you described. Well it's been 7 weeks and it's still hurting and often tightens up like a cramp. I have often found that massaging it helps. I might see a doc next week for it. Please let me know if you have any other info. I thought I was the only one this has happened to.

thanks
