I fell in the subway November 1st 2007, three days before the NYC Marathon, X Ray show chip fracture dorsum of the toe navicular bone. Second X Ray show the chip bone healing in place and I am now able to walk comfortably around the track for 1 hour. I would like to know when it is safe to start running, also what strengthening exercises I can do? Do you forsee any problems in the future, what precautions I should take? I have never been injured so I am having a difficult time coping, especially since I was not injured while running.

injury tends to initiate osteoarthritic changes, however, everyone is different.

If you are worried, i would suggest doing cross trainning (e.g. swim, cycling, and running) and ensure to wear nice supportive and cushioned footwear.

Can perhaps try orthotics to help stabalize the joints and redistribute plantar pressure.
