i have had this nagging problem for three months now, playing football put my

foot up in a challenge, took the full impact of a 6 foot 5 raging madmen it is on my

left foot all my deltoid ligaments were severly swollen, and bruised the severe

pain and impact was on the ball of the foot, couldnt walk for weeks without

serious pain, had orthotics put in shoes, been wearing running pumas for three

months when i wear flat shoes get pain and numbness in this area, have been

trying to just work through it, as i am all right footed but it shows you how much

you use your other foot as it just feels that is not right regarding my mobility and

the positioning of my foot at times, it feels like a serious overuse injury as after a

we while ruunning it eases of , but after training the pain and numbness comes

back, this is a very hard area to rest, particularly, i do a lot of driving with my left

foot using the clutch, have done rom exercises and strength work to no avail,

looking for some advice to this nagging problem

try strapping your big toe in a plantarflex position (pointing downward).

Rest, ice.

Use the outer part of your foot while engaging the clutch.

Your orthotics should have a cut-out at the big toe area. If this modification of the orthotics don't work --> get an x-ray, if it shows signs of arthritic changes, you can either use a Morton's extension (a block underneath the big toe joint) or visit a orthopaedic surgeon to either fuse it all together or re-construct the joint.
