Hi everyone, I'm new here. Just wondering if someone can give me some advise on a few things.

I'm 38 female, and had back surgery in April of 2007 for a ruptured disc. Ok, I'll tell ya everything that might be the easiest.

When I was just out of high school, my best friend and I walked on a track that was dirt, mostly hard but there was a few spots that was sand. I started have bad cramps in my calves, I thought it was just due to not stretching or lack of fluids, after I stopped walking the cramps would start to go away. But everytime I started walking again it would start back up. So over the years I just stopped walking. I love to swim, and would during the summer. Over the years I started having problems with my back. The older I got the more I hurt, both with my back and with the cramping in my legs. In 2005 my back spasmed and I ended up at a med center in town and they just treated me like I was crazy gave me a shot and sent me on my way. Told me to go to the clinic and start seeing a doctor there, which I did. For over a year we "babied my back" taking pain meds and or soma's, which never took the pain away but made it were I could handle it while I worked. So in March of 2007 it did its thing again and I ended up in the emergency room. They took x-rays and said I have degenerative disc disease. Finally when I was able to see my doctor she send me for an MRI and yep you guess it...... ruptured disc. Dang hate it when I'm right about hurting. So I had surgery. That was in April. Now nine months later, I'm still hurting both with my back and legs. My question is why??? Yea Yea I know that the million dollar question. I've been "told" I have compartment syndrome with my legs and now that I've had my surgery, I should be "all better". I'm just soooo tired of hurting, every day 24/7......I've tried every type of meds over the counter you can think of. My doctor is willing to help with pain meds, but I hate meds. I'm on 2 blood pressure meds (started in 2005 with my back started it woo hoo) and I cried for 3 days cause of it. I know, silly, but I did. I just want to go one day with no meds and no pain...... any suggestions???
