1 month ago I kicked the toe next to the smallest. I thought it was broken, something snapped, I had it xrayed and was informed there was no break. Since then I have iced it many times, elevated it and still the base of the toe and about 1 inch down is very painful. I cannot put any pressure on it without it hurting. Does anyone have a suggestion of whatelse I should do to comfort the foot and how long is it going to take to heal. Do you think I have done damage to the tendons.
Would appreciate a reply

Hi,
Does sound like possible tendon damage or a tendonopathy of some sort.
Also have a look here:

Not usually an injury that occurs from an acute incident (more over-use) but it may have triggered it off.
Also look here:

It is difficult for me to say what it might be but look at these pages and see if your symptoms match
All these pages should also have links to treatment and exercises
Hope this helps

Hi australian01,
Fractures best shows up on x-ray 6 wks after the injury, i will recommend getting another x-ray as well as an ultrasound scan.
If your symtoms match the conditions Heidi recommended and that you've tried all the treatment but still experience the pain, you may suffer from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.
Definitely recommend going back to your specialist again for a follow-up.
