hi everyone,
i am a weightlifter participated at international level. i had a problem for last 6 years. i had a severe pain in my quads. it happens only when i start my training and ends within half hour after i stop my training. the pain is so severe that i just cant bear it. i cant stand or sit. but as i stop training, then its fine after an hour. i dont know why this happens and what are measures to cure it.
i had severe pain in front of thigh i.e vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius and the rectus femoris. more severe pain is in rectus femoris. about warming up and stretching,i am aware of that and do warmin and stretching for half hour before and after my training. i had consulted doctor regardig this, he told me that my quads are quiet over developed then hamstrings. later i worked on hams, but no result. the pain is same. i even used
R I C E theraphy, still no use. but ice give me quick relief.
another doctor told me to put ice immediately after training for half an hour. that gave me some relief, but no permamant relief.
i want permanant relief.
please suggest something
i will be very thankful to the one who will cure my problem
please reply

Where in the quad are we talking about? Near the knee? or high up near the hip? or in the middle? This is quite an important fact to establish before anyone could suggest what your injury may be.

Also, do you perform a thorough warm-up before you start? Especially stretches to the quad?

Let me know

Heidi

Ok,

Have you tried sports massage or another form of deep tissue massage? If you have an imbalance between your quads and hamstrings, chances are as well as being a lot stronger, your quads are also overly tight and probably have lots of trigger points. It would be well worth trying this as it can make an unbeliveable difference.
