im not sure if its my groin that hurts, or my hip. hopefully somebody can help me with my problem, im quite concerned now. my english isnt very good, i apologize for that in advance.

2 weeks ago, while i was stretching (my ultimate goal are the splits), i felt a pain in my right leg, i dont know if it was the hip or groin, i know this sounds dumb, but i just cant feel exactly where the pain was located. i felt pain when i stepped on my right leg. the next day it was ok, but i soon realised that my right leg (groin) hurt when i did certain exercises. it still hurts to this day (2 weeks), and it hasnt gotten any better. the exercises are :

"walking straight leg kick" - http://orgs.jmu.edu/strength/JMU_Summer_2000_WebPage/JMU_Summer_2000_Sections/KGStraightLegWalk.jpg

i just feel a pain when i kick my right leg upwards, as if there was something restricting my leg to go further upwards. if i ignore the pain, and try to kick high, it hurts, and when my leg comes down, the hip makes a clicking sound..

it also hurts when i perform the static stretch where you sit on your butt, legs spread in a V shape, and then u lean to the left leg, center, right, and so on.. the left leg is no problem, i can touch it with my whole body, so is the center, but i cant get anywhere near the right leg.

and finally, i cant perform the front splits, with my right leg being the one thats forward, the pain is just too bad

and i believe its not a hamstring strain, the hamstring itself doesent hurt.

can anyone help ? :)

Hi!

I would definately get this checked out. There are so many possible injuries that is could be from your description. Adductor tear, or tendon inflammation, labral tear, or hamstring injury. Possibly even ostitis pubis (dependant on the location of the pain).
Sorry to not be more helpful!
Definately visit a sports therapist/physio or someone similar who can have a proper look for you!

im pretty sure its my hip thats the troublemaker now. ill go se a doctor, but im just wondering.. if its a labral tear (because of the clicking sound..), is there any chance that it will heal by itself ? im wondering because i experience no pain what so ever when walking/running or whatever, just when i try to kick my leg upwards/the other exercises i described, so i think whatever injury it is, its not a severe one.

is there anything that the body can do by itself to heal the injury, or is surgery necessery with a labral hip tear ?
