hi everyone
i hope some one can help me, i had acl recon 2 years and i have never really been able to get rehab going , its got so bad theat my vmo has gone and my hamstring on right leg is very weak
any time i start a rehab programme a few weeks later either my hamstring goes or i have pain in my vmo
i have been attending an nhs hospital for physio, and when i explain my symptoms to them they just tell me to get on with it.
last week during my appointment at the hospital i pulled my hammy.
when i told the physio this she said go home ,stretch see you next week
can anyone give me some advice?

Visit a private physio or sports therapist! You shouldn't be pulling hammys during supervised rehab sessions!
I have recently written a page on VMO strengthening, you will find it here:
http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/front/knee/vmo.php
An aching, uncomfortable feeling within the VMO during exercise should be worked through, but if you feel a sharp pain, stop immediately. If this continues I would ask for further investigation.
Have you had good massage therapy on the hamstrings? Was the graft taken from the hamstrings?
What kind of exercises have you been doing? maybe you are being progressed to quickly and need to go back to square one?!

thanks for replying
i cannot get treatment via the nhs as i have previously asked, and te reply is that i am only there for gym class,i contacted them today and asked them what i should do either go to hospital physio or leave it for a few weeks.was told to come back in 3 weeks
exercises,20 min bike 10 min x trainer(this causes hamstring problem) 3x15 leg press ,3x20 step ups with dumbells alternate each leg 6min stepper
the graft was taken from pat tendon
i have a private physio but she is on holiday (back on monday)
she will massage hammy for me
this injury happened on friday, if the pain has gone by friday i was going to either do 10 to 15 min cycling followed by light stretching or some swimming using kick board, which one would be better?also injured calf at same time ,the calf was tight when exercising a few days earlier
i think this is a grade one strain as i cannot see bruising, had grade 2 tear last july
i will look at vmo strength page
thanks
