Hello all,
About nearly 4 months ago i started feeling a pain in groin and the it was accompanied with outer hip and gluteus medius pain on my right leg. I have been playing playing soccer for 13 years and also i have been a football kicker for 3. I saw a sports medicine/chiropractor and she told me that i had rotated my pelvis and that was the cause to all the problems. She adjusted me a couple times and i recieved a massage on it once or twice and the pain went away of course with some icing at home along with this treatment, but since then the pain has come back just about a month after i stoped seeing her. I kicked once more for football at practice after taking 2 months off from kicking a ball and the pain came back. Next i went yesterday to see a physical therapist and what he told me is that he doesn't think i rotated my pelvis as much as it may be adductor tendonitis. He told me to work with a light rubber band and do kicks with it as i were kicking a football for 3 sets of up to 20 reps per day and eventually increase the resistance to do away with the tendonitis and increase the muscle strength. He also told me to pick up a cream called DMSO to help treat the pain and decrease the healing process. Im not sure now who to beleive!! im stuck in a rut and i need to progress some how so im not sure what to do. Any help will be appreciated :) Thanks

Hi

Obviously its difficult to really tell without seeing you.

I would suggest that your pain is resulting from some postural problems and resultant muscle imbalances. If you can to see me this would be the focus of my attention.

Groin/hip problems are often to do with weak core muscles and weak gluteals. Try massage for the groin and gluteals, to release any trigger points. Stretch every day too.

Try starting some core training too and strengthening the abductors (glut med and min)

Hope this helps

Hi,
Thanks for the response. My chiropractor told me that my sacroiliac joint is stuck and that is what is causing the problems. I stretch pretty much everyday at least once and i try to do it twice if i have time. The therpist at the office told me to use rubber bands to strengthen i muscles in my adductors, glutes, and hips. But i will be getting a massage as well. Right now my chiropractor is using this machine called the "ProAdjuster" have you heard of it? Reliable or just a scam? He doesn't touch me at all its just a machine doing the thumping on my spine.
Thanks

I have heard of the pro-adjuster and similar things. But i have had no experience of them so I do not know if they actually work. Give it a chance for a few sessions and let me know!

The bit about the Sacroiliac joint being "stuck" or immobile sounds very likely and it is good that you stretch regularly, are doing resistance band exercises and are planning on some massage.

Keep it up!

It turns out that pro adjuster is a piece of junk and hasnt done anything for me. Im going to try to go to an orthopedic next and see about prolotherapy because ive been researching on this sacroiliac joint dysfunction and there is no real cure for it at all. Only injections that can soothe the pain temporarily. I may have to give up footbal kicking for good :( We'll see how everything goes though, thanks for the support though
