View Full Version : No labrum left after surgery

Hello all, I just had an arthroscopic surgery after my second shoulder dislocation. The day after the operation I spoke with the doctor and he informed me that although the operation was succesful, once he got the camera in he realized that the front half of the labrum was gone; he had to remove the cartilage bits from the joints, thus leaving only the remaining half of the cartilage and the rest of the joint is basically bone to bone. He says that its not an ideal situation but that he had no other options to replace the cartilage. But that I should recover just fine.

Im wondering if this is entirely true, or if perhaps in Panama (where this took place) they do not have the technology.

Im very worried about the implications of this in the future (joint pain, arthritis) and not being able to resume my current activities, weight lifting, surfing, contact sports. Im 26 years old if its at all relevant.

Hope to hear your comments.
Thanks!
