hi anyone,
I turned my ankle on the edge of a thick mat six months ago. I experienced a hot and sharp pain in an arc underneath the ankle bone. I ran on it a few days later thinking it was ok. It wasn't. Within a month i'd had it xrayed twice and all I know is that is not broken.
Walking is painful and i cannot run on it and haven't done so for six months. This so frustrating!
When i place weight on it at any time there is a soreness that fells as though somthing is pinching underneath my ankle bone. theris also pain on the inside of the bone itself.
I've seen three physios all with very different treaments from deep massage through to ultra sound. All have been expensive and all have made no difference.
I have an MRI scan at the end of the month and podiatry has been suggested. Any help will be most welcome.

Hi Stuart,

When you originally damaged your ankle, did it bruise and swell much?

My immediate thought is an ankle sprain, to the anterior talo-fibular ligament and possibly the calcaneo-fibular lgament. However the phyio treatment you have had should have helped with that as it is quite a common injury and relatively straightforward to treat.

This leads me to think that there may be further associated damage to maybe a tendon. This should come up on the MRI scan.

So I think your best bet is to wait until you get the results of the scan.

In the meantime, have a look here for any more info:
