Around a year ago whilst playing football (soccer) I kicked the ball hard with my right foot, however instead of kicking the ball on the top of my foot I miss-judged it and used the toes of my foot to kick with. This caused my foot to extend causing considerable pain. At the time I stopped playing football and ended up going to hospital. It was x-ray'ed and showed no signs of a break. There was minimal swelling and I was advised to rest. I was told that it was most likely a sprained ankle.
Over a year on I am still suffering pain and discomfort. It is not a constant pain and the majority of the time it isn't too bad, however there is obviously something wrong.
I have been to my doctor several times regarding this and keep getting fobed off with a sprained ankle and to rest.
The pain is along the top of my foot towards the inside and the best way for me to describe it is as if the ligament from my ankle to the top of my foot feels as if its comming away from the bone. I'm sure it's nothing as serious as this but if anyone has some advice I'd appriciate it.

Hi Ady,

Obviously its difficult without seeing you to tell, but have a look a tthis page to see if your symptoms are similar:

if not, try this one:

Either way, its obviously not going to heal on its own and you will need some treatment on it to get it back to its best!

Following any ankle injury there tends to be a lot of tightening of the calf muscles which if not corrected causes further problems and delayed recovery.

Good luck!
