i went off a 15-20 foot jump and caught 10 or so feet of air and landed hard, at the time i knew it was a hard landing but it didnt hurt right off. i rode the rest of the day and my wife, my friends and i went to the lodge and sat for a bit when i stood up and took a step with my right leg(lead leg while snowboarding) there was extreme pain in the outside of my right knee below the joint. couldnt really walk on it for about 2 weeks. didnt have any insurance so i didnt go to a doctor.it felt as it was healing although frequently when i lift my foot off the ground and pointed my toe downward on the outside of my knee below the joint pops but its not a standard popping sound im used to it is a bit louder and its more of a sharp snapping noise and occasionally my ankle will pop too.was doing fine working at the place i was at the time phone rep but 8 months ago i got a job at a lumber mill pulling chain. and its the same situation every day wake up in the morning with none to mild discomfort in the area(outside of right knee below the joint) but after a few hours of pulling lumber off the chain the pain starts to increase in severity. usually increases on the side of my knee first then slowly starts to include the lower outside of my kneecap-to mid lower knee cap. and it seems to hurt the most while rolling my weight from my heel to the pad of my foot and decreases if i go all the way to standing on my toes. and if i apply pressure to the area on the outside of my leg upper shin 1/2 inch below my knee there is slight discomfort. tried a velcro knee brace but didnt seem to help much. looking for a way to fix the pain and discomfort.

Hi,

I think it's definitely time to get your knee looked at by a medical professional, particularly due to the amount of pain you are experiencing in your current job (which might possibly become a risk if you're working with machinery? Not sure but could be something you might need to think about).

Without examining you it is somewhat difficult to suggest what the problem is, but if you get to see a doctor or a physio they should be able to give you an idea of what's causing the problem, and then hopefully from there work out a plan to help alleviate the pain.

I hope this is of some help, please do let us know how you get on!
