Hi,

Im really worried about a pain i'm getting just below my knee. I have recently started running and ran 10k in 2 days when i haven't been out for months, so initially i thought it was just that i'd overdone it abit, but now i'm not sure if its more serious. The pain starts just below the knee on the outside of my leg, sort of at the side of the bone and gets worse if i keep running on it until it becomes unbearable. I then struggle to walk on it at all but the following day its fine again. I have absolutely no swelling or inflammation, its just pain. Didnt run for 5 days since i first got it, then tried running again and after a short distance it started again. I've searched the internet high and low and can't seem to work out what it is.

Please help!

Hey
Sounds like you may have Anterior Compartment Syndrome - which can come about from overuse. The fact that you have no swelling however is a bit strange.
This is a condition where the tibialis anterior muscle at the front of the leg becomes too big (from sudden use etc) for the fascia surrounding it therefore it causes pain as the muscle becomes more compressed when it is used again during exercise.
Try applying heat regularly, resting it and see a physio.
Hope that helps!
