I have an injury dating back 2 years which started when i bought new running shoes, resulting in an achilles injury, it has since repaired itself but just after repair the pain moved up to the muscle area just above the ankle area and just below the calf area and is permanently sensitive especially when slightly squeezed. What could this be and how do i treat this?

I would visit a sports massage therapist for some treatment to the whole lower leg. Stretching the calves regularly would also be helpful. You need to make sure you stretch both the gastrocnemius and soleus. Have a look here if you are not sure how:

A good sports masseuse will find what the problem is and know how to treat it. I suspect it is simply a muscular problem, originating from the problem with the achilles.

Have you got the trainers sorted now? This will be important in avoiding further injury and allowing this one to heal properly

Hi Heidi

Thanks for the advice, i will definitely do as advised, i have my trainers sorted out, i made the mistake of buying stability instead of neutral after initially using stability to get fit which worked very well, i was ill advised, but i will gradually get back into running.
