I injured my left butt muscle while playing hockey about 6yrs ago.Ever since then I have not been able to set down for any long periods of time (40min) before the pain starts up.I have stretched the area but I have now notice a bump about the size of a marble while trying to massage the area with a tennis ball.Is there any way of getting rid of this?I have had an ultra sound done on the area and the doctor believes the torn muscle has calcified or the years into a small bone! What kind of therapist should I be looking at to finally get this thing cleared up?..THANKS..

Hi,
Theres nothing you can actually do about the bone being there, but what you can do is make sure the muscles surrounding the buttocks and hip are strong enough to cope with this and are also not overly tight as a result of this.
I would visit a Sports therapist or sports physio (not a general physio, see one who specialises in sports injuries)
Good luck!

will ultra sound & massage get rid of the calcified muscle?

No, you can't get rid of the bone now, that is there for keeps i'm afraid. Massage and ultrasound may well help to improve the condition of the surrounding muscles, but thats all

Okay, thanks for your help. If you see some guy standing up in a plane or in a movie theatre it will probably be me!...
