I started running way back in January after a 10 year break..
By the end of July I'd hit my target of 4 miles a day at a pace of 8:15 a mile.
I then upped the distance to 6 miles a day. Halfway through the second week I
developed a pain on the inside of my left shin. After a couple of days rest, the pain persisted, it seemed likely that due to the sudden increase in distance and the fact that that i over pronate when i run i needed shoe inserts. These I got and after a weeks rest and reducing the mileage everything was fine and I was back on track, slowly raising the mileage back up to 6 a day again.
However I then started to develope a pain in the hip. After a couple of days rest I tried again, but it came back straight away. It took a week for the pain to go away, so I rested it for a further four weeks. I then attempted a slow 2 mile run, again the pain came back and again stayed for a full week...
The doctor recomended seeing the Physio, but there is a four month waiting list.
The nearest private Physio or sports therapist is a 6 hour round trip drive away..
The pain is on the outer part of my left hip just above the buttock, but at times seems deep in the joint. It aches if I raise my leg slightly when lying or sitting down. The rest of the time it has given me a slight limp when I walk..
I would be grateful if anyone has any ideas... at the moment Ive been doing swimming as this no impact excercise doesnt cause any pain, but I would like to get back to running....
