Hit by pitch

Last night my son was hit on the right shoulder by a pitch. It was red but never bruised with maybe slight swelling- not noticable enough to tell if it was actually swelling. No bones protruding, etc. He says there's just slight pain. He can move it, it hurts when he lifts his arm up. Has anyone here experienced this? If so - any advice. Of course, we'll take him in on mon. if it still hurts. He's a big guy and usually feels nothing from a hit.
