    Default Herniated Disc

My doctor suspects that I have a herniated disc. It is causing numbness in my right foot. I'm a long-distance runner and have been advised not to run. What other cardio activities can I do that will keep my is some sort of shape and not hurt my disc? Thanks.

Your best bets are not impact exercises, but basically its a case of what you can do that doesn't aggravate it so it may be a case of trial and error.
Cycling on a recumbent bike would be a good place to start - the back is very supported in this position and obviously there is no impact. Swimming may be another good option.
