Default lower back pain caused by badminton

    Hi,

I am a 20 year old student and I play badminton 4/5 times a week. About 3 weeks ago after I had finished playing badminton, the right side of my lower back hurt and there was pain if i bent my back or stretched my back but after four days the injury seemed to heal. Then about 5 days ago I finished a badminton session and my back was agonising in the same place, it hurts to walk, it really hurts to bend my back, if i press down on the right side of my lower back it feels like theres a swollen lump but it does not hurt to touch the lump. The lump is quite big and stretches around to nearly my hip joint. I was hoping that this injury would get better like the other one but it has been 5 days and it is still as bad as when I first did it. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be, I am really worried because I am meant to be playing a tournament in 3 weeks?

    Hi
From the location, I would guess that the injury you have sustained is muscular. Quite possibly quadratus lumborum:

This is a commonly injured muscle. You probably just have a small tear which has caused the muscles to go into spasm.
Rest and stretch it. Use a warm pack to reduce muscle spasm. If no improvement in a few days then definately visit a professional for an assessment.

Hay guys are there any possible exercises to prevent such back pain, as I’m a great fond of badminton. But it happens often when I’m stacked by back pain.
