Unhappy Reoccuring muscle strain in middle back over 10 months

I'm 33, I guess I strained a muscle in my back whilst using a cross trainer. Now everytime I do minor exercise I'm left with severe pain for a week.
Its just in my left side where my kidneys are but kidney infection has been ruled out.
I've had it for 10 months now, Ive had sports physio, accupuncture and massage, but it doesnt ease it.

I went on a ride rowing simulator with my daughter on holiday just for 3 minutes and spent the rest of the week in pain.

Will I ever be able to resume exercise? If anybody has any suggestions I'd appreciate it

    Default Back pain

    Hi

I am a sports masseur and treat similar situations in my practice alongside other therapists in a co ordinated way. If mechanical function has been restored the muscles quite often I find hang on to the stress of an injury and can reoccur when put under pressure.

I think you should keep away from strenuous activity such as the rower and ensure that you continue to follow warm up/warm down and stretch routines your therapists woudl undoubtedly given you. I would continue to see them periodically so that areas and surrounding areas get attention even if pain is not current and then try to adminsiter self treatment in between sessions. Core stability to build the cornerstone of overall supporty should be considered (fitness or medical Pilates) and you can continue the principles of this once you have them from an instructor. A simple wobble board or cushion could be the start of this process for you?.

    Best of luck
