Default Sudden Difficulty Retracting Shoulders -HELP!!!

    Hello,
For 2.5 weeks now I have been bothered by bilateral weakness in my middle back resulting in the inability to abduct my arms at my side above mid-thoracic level and generalized inability to retract my shoulders (poor posture). This deficit came on rather suddenly and while it has improved to a small degree, it's still causing me pain and distress. I'm a very fit person overall, and have never had a shoulder or back injury. I thought it was my rotator cuff at first, but am now thinking it's probably my middle trapezius and/or rhomboids. It's almost as if I have very little opposing strengthfrom my back, which causes my shoulders to rotate forward. At the end of a long day this results in immense upper back pain, which is really when it's most bothersome.*

This all came about suddenly one afternoon after waking up from a nap. I should also mention that the day prior I had done a shoulders and arms resistance workout very early in the am. I was initially thinking I was just tight and must have strained something, especially since the weakness is bilateral. I don't recall feeling anything rip/tear, and the weakness didn't start for almost 36 hours, it was only after the nap that it started. I'm now starting to wonder if it's actually a nerve injury. The last bit of information is that over the last year and a half or so I will occasionally wake up with tingling in my fingers. At first I was attribuing it to ulnar nerve compression while sleeping, since it goes away quickly and doesn't reappears during the day, but now I'm wondering if they're related.*
Please, if ANYONE has ever heard of such a thing, please let me know. This is just awful !!!**

    Hi
I would advise you to visit a physiotherapist or chiropractor etc to get an full assessment of your shoulder, upper back, thoracic and cervical spine.
Any injury which causes pain, weakness and tingling should be fully investigated.
