    Default AC grII injury

I got aquainted with the beach & injured my shoulder surfing recently (10days ago).

Doc says its a grII AC injury. I was given a sling and painkillers. I have a large unsightly bump on topside of my shoulder where the clavicle sticks up, and its sensitive & sore still.

I looked on the web & found lots of refs to strapping the shoulder to aid recovery.

When I asked for it to be strapped the Doc said "we don't do that here, in Europe yes, in Uk ..No."
Doc said it should settle back into place in 2-3wks as the shoulder relaxes.

Is this just tosh, an excuse for NHS poor practice or wot?

Should I insist on having it strapped?

Where can I get accurate info on AC injury & treatment.

    regards M

    Unhappy

I guess you're probably OK by now - but if not - I can compare treatment in UK for Grade III..... on going 15 months...
