    Default Grade 3 AC seperation

So as the title says I have a grade 3 AC separation that happened a few days ago. I'm 19 and a very active individual. I play football, which is how my injury happened, I am also big into weight lifting and was planning on doing a lot of lifting this off season. Taking into account that my shoulder will be susceptible to re injury because of football and i will need full ROM and strength regained would surgery right away or rehab and if it doesn't get better then surgery be a better idea?

Grade 3 is borderline for surgery, so do some don't and what is best for you depends on the specific damage you sustained and also your lifestyle.
The decision really has to be between yourself and your consultant.
Many people continue to be very active following grade 3 AC injuries without any problems. On the other hand, some do suffer with shoulder injuries becuase of the changes in movement patterns caused by the disruption and resulting muscle imbalances.
Either way, you will need a very thorough rehabilitation programme.
