    Default Heidi!

Ok here's the problem. Pectoralis contraction against resistance causes medial deltoid pain. Doesn't make any sense to me.

I can't do pushups, can't bench press. I can overhead press, I can do chinups. If I lay down to do a pushup, as I begin the eccentric portion the pain increases. If I put my hands together like I am praying with a humeral angle of more than 10 degrees away from my body in sagittal plane I get pain in the medial delt.

If I consciously hold my shoulder very tight on bench press(100 lbs) the pain is better, if I decrease the angle between my humerus and my side(touch lower on the chest with the bar) then the pain is decreased.

Doing a lateral raise(right shoulder btw) into a wall does not cause pain even though I am contracting the very muscle(or at least I think) that hurts when I bench/pushup.

The pain is weird, it isn't the whole muscle, it feels like a "line" that starts at the top of my humerus and then goes down about 2 or 3 inches.

I also have some overall shoulder soreness and pain as well after a set of benching(only on the right side) feels like teres major or maybe lats, and anterior delt.

If you could provide any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!!

    Hi
I doubt very much that it is a deltoid injury. I suspect more of a rotator cuff tendon injury, possibly an impingement syndrome.
You can read more about these here: http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/back/shoulder/rotatorcuff.htm

Thank you for taking the time to help me!

I will make an appointment with my family's ortho then in order to find out the specific problem. Hopefully I will be back to adding weight on my benchpress soon.

Are there any tests you could suggest in order to help me figure it out on my own, I won't be able to see a doctor until thursday? I have a camera and could upload a video of any tests to confirm they are being done correctly.
