Default loss of power through shoulder

    Hi There,

I Am A 47 Year Old Male Who Lives To Surf.i Have Just Returned From
A Very Active Surf Trip For Two Weeks Where My Shoulder Was Fine.
On Return After A Week Of Total Inactivity I Went For A Surf But Found
That I Did Not Have The Strength To Push Myself Up On My Board Properly
As My Shoulder And Arm Feels Numb.there Is No Excrutiating Pain As Such But I Do Have Shoulder Blade And Muscle Ache Pain In My Back.
The Tendons Or Muscles On The Outside/top Of My Arm Also Get Tender.
I Also Have A Dull Ache In My Neck From Time To Time.i Have Been For Physio ,chiro And A Cortizone Injection Treatment But To Date Have
    No Relief And No Power.

My Job Is Not Physically Demanding But I Do Sit In One Place With A Phone To Each Ear For Most Of Day So Posture Is Not Ideal For The Most Part Of The Day.it Now Seems To Be Spreading To The Side Which Did Not Have The Cortizone Which Is Even More Troubling.

Please Could You Shed Some Light On This As The Ortho Seems To Think It Is Frozen Shoulder.

    Thanks And Regards.
    Mark.

    Hi,

Frozen shoulder does sound possible yes. This tends to just come on for no reason and causes stiffness, pain and weaknening of the shoulder joint.

Unfortunately there isn't a huge amount you can do about it if this is the case.

My advice would be to get a regular sports massage to the whole area and some mobility and stretching exercises to keep it moving and maintain as much range of motion as possible.

Have a look here for further info about frozen shoulder:

Sorry to not be much help!
