Hey everyone; my name is Kait and I've been having trouble with my right shoulder for a long time now but it's never been bad enough for me to feel like I needed to go see someone; tonight, however, it almost brought me to tears and so I thought I'd see if anyone has any ideas as to what could be going on. So, a little context then. =)
I'm 22 and I run three to four miles every day. Nearly every time about ten minutes in I get a pain in the front of my right shoulder. It doesn't radiate to the outside of my shoulder nor does it extend down my arm. It's just a deep ache near my collarbone. It's sensitive and tender to the touch but I have full range of motion and absolutely no discomfort when I move it. Once I stop running it usually persists for an hour or so before it fades away.
I haven't had any major shoulder injuries before but I have noticed that while lifting weights this same pain crops up and often when I rotate my arm there's an audible clicking noise and/or a sort of shift in my shoulder that you can feel if you're touching it.
When it first started happening (about a year, year and a half ago) I thought that it was just from poor posture caused by bad habits that developed from being out of school and off the track team long enough. I worked hard and started being really conscientious on my runs as to how I was carrying myself but saw no improvement. Someone suggested it was perhaps radiation pain from my abdominal muscles cramping but again, I've got good form (no hunching over to cause additional strain/limited airflow) and I rarely get stitches.
Any input would be really helpful. Thanks!
