    Question Separated shoulder and brace?

Hello, I have a degree 3 separated shoulder. It happened 3 years ago, the Dr. said it would heal eventually and I would have the bump forever. From what I have read I believe that is true. However, my shoulder still has problems. I waited 3 months and iced it like the Dr. said and even had it in a sling for 3 weeks. I thought it was healed, but then one day it got hurt again. I fell like my shoulder was dislocated and it still occurs now. Most recently it occurred playing basketball, my shoulder had been really good, no pain or anything for 8-9 months. Then it "dislocated again" and it takes along time after this before i am able to do anything active once this occurs.

So i was wondering whether or not buying a shoulder brace would help. I was looking at this one
    http://www.amazon.com/EVS-SB03-Shoulder-Brace-Large/dp/B003RLFJYQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1314724651&sr=8-2

If anyone knows anything about it or knows if it might help that would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for reading and helping!

    Hi
Grade 3 injuries are borderline as to whether they are repaired surgically. Some are, some aren't and yes the bump will always be there!
As you didn't have surgery, I would have expected a pretty thorough rehab programme which would help to get the movement, strength and stability back in the shoulder joint.
If this didn't happen then I think you should get started with it! It's never too late to start, although obviously better the sooner after injury you can.
A shoulder support may help a little, but it won't completely correct the problem.

What are some things I should do to try to strengthen it?
At one point I was able to do everything but throw, because when I tried to throw it would pop out again. Do you think the brace would prevent this? thanks.

Personally no I don't think a shoulder support would prevent this.
Strengthening all major muscles of the shoulder, paying particular attention to the shoulder stabilisors - the roataor cuff muscles lower trapz and serratus anterior.
Don't work the chest muscles too much, or upper trapz either
