    Default Subacromial bursitis/impingement

Twelve months ago I visited my gp for advice on my right shoulder which had become extremely painful when throwing a cricket ball / overhead stretching. I was told it was due to impingement causing. Anti - inflammataries(sp!) proved useless - but over a period of about 16 weeks the shoulder seemed to right itself with no specific exercises from me.
I now have the same condition in my left shoulder and would welcome any advice on exercises which will help strech the shoulder and aid recovery without the need to return to doctor / physio . The current condition has been around for at least 4 months - and whilst not acute it causes a lot of discomfort and prevents full night's sleep. Thanks Dave.

    Hi Dave,

You didn't mention your age at all, however this could be impingement as your GP mentioned or any of a range of conditions, but perhaps the one which springs to mind is that of Frozen Shoulder. You can view more about this condition on our page at http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/front/shoulder/frozen_shoulder_adhesive_capsulitis.htm

Can you get in to see a physio or sports therapist? They might be able to help you out somewhat and at least give you some advice? I have a leaflet that I give to patients about frozen shoulder if it'd be of any use?
