torn anterior & inferior of glenoid labrum with grade 2 AC seperation

Hi! I have a grade 2 A/C seperation from a dirtbike/catapult thats 2 years old and I've felt shoulder instability for 6mo now.
Just 2 months ago I put my shoe on standing up and pulled something in my shoulder . I went to the doc 3 wks later who had an MRA arthogram done a wk later. It revealed a small tear on the anterior and inferior region of the glenoid labrum and degenerative changes involving the A/C joint consistent with history of prior a/c seperation. So ... They say we can do an operation to grind down the a/c joint n stich it back - then stich up the labrum in 4 spots. But first do 4-6 wk of therapy to strengthen the shoulder cus its been unused for 2mo n very week and unstable to maybe skip surgery.
I have my first therapy session in 2 days finally
So I guess my questions are : has anyone gone through something like this before? Recovery time? They say I may be out for 6months!! I'm 26 yrs old and I play drums everyday ( well not for months now) do I just sell all my drum stuff n play guitar? Or is this something I can recover from without being arthritic in 2yrs n hurting my body more then it is now.

The outcome of your therapy and possible operation depend very much on your individual injury, as well as your commitment to rehabilitation.

Therapy can be very successful in these injuries, either before or after surgery. So don't sell your drums just yet, give the therapy a chance.
