I am having an issue with my arm while playing squash. Some of the symptoms sound quite similar to tennis elbow, though I'm not entirely sure that it might not actually be sourcing from the shoulder.
Generally after hitting a lot of hard forehands (it seems to occur when attempting to hit a few forehands really hard, rather than occuring from backhands or more gentle forehands), the following occurs:
* Significant loss of strength in the hand which makes it difficult to hold the racquet
* A constant ache during and for up to half an hour after the game down the outside of the whole arm (ie not just near the elbow)
* My hand will shake quite a lot if I try to hold it steady out in front of me
As I said, some of that sounds familiar from reading the section on tennis elbow, but since the pain can include the whole arm (and seems to have no affect on the wrist) I'm wondering if it could also be related to the shoulder?
I have been using a tennis elbow brace, and have used a double grip on the racquet to make the grip quite a bit larger. These appear to have reduced how often the issue occurs, but have not really eliminated it.
This has been occuring for several years (even through a couple of periods of 5-6 months of rest). For several days afterword there can be pain when lifting heavy objects, but not in normal use.
Would appreciate any input that anyone might have.
