Default Complications after Twennis Elbow Surgery

I had surgery for Tennis Elbow in late April after suffering with it for two years. A couple of days after surgery, I noticed that my hand and fingers were starting to swell severely. I immediately went back to see my surgeon but she said not to worry. The swelling in my hand and fingers got worse after the stitches were removed so I again went back to the surgeon who again said not to worry until 6 weeks after. Well, it is now some 4 months after the operation and I still have swelling in my hand and fingers which can be unbearable at times (it is like fillling a rubber glove with water); it subsides when I am doing something but as soon as I rest or stand up and let my arm drop the swellling returns. The pain in my elbow also remains. I did not have an infection following surgery.

I have done all the rehab and the physio is now at a loss as what to do next as I've managed to get my grip strength back to match my good hand. I am a bit concerned that the surgeon is trying to fob me off in some way and that I should be seeking a second opinion or some other form of treatment.

    Regards

    CW

    Hi,

I think you should be looking for a second opinion from a specialist, just to be on the safe side. Obviously this is not normal and you should get it checked out
