    Default Elbow Pain, Any Suggestions?

I'm 20 years old and have been weight lifting for approximately 2 years now. And 6 or so months ago i started getting a uncomfortable pain on the outside of my elbow, where the bursa is located. On top of that, the inside of the elbow was swollen (palms facing up), and there was a terrible grinding sensation when i held my arm in certain positions and extended it. The pain got worse and worse, so i took about 6 or so months off lifting, and the pain seemed to go away. Except for the annoying grinding which is still there. So i went to the doc, told him the situation and said my arm was grinding and a bit swollen, and i wanted an x-ray. I got the x-ray done, and nothing showed up, and the doc said he couldn't do anything for me, so i figured the grinding wasn't a big deal and something i'd just have to live with. But i recently got back into lifting, and i had a 20 minute warmup and stretch routine, and was doing a full body superset routine afterwards with light weight. I did that for a month to slowly get back into it. Then 2 weeks ago i got back into my normal routine of 2 muscle groups per session, 4 days a week and beginning to up my weight. And the pain is starting to come back! I have proper form and i'm definately not overtraining. So i need help diagnosing what the problem might be??

    Thanks for the help!

The elbow is prone to injury in weight lifters as a lot of force goes through a small area where a lot of muscles attach through a single tendon (both inside and outer elbow).

Another common source of pain in the elbow is actually the neck. Have you felt any pain or stiffness in the neck?

I would advise you to visit a physio or similar as these problems can be more complex than htye appear, especially if the neck is involved.

No I haven't had any problems with my neck, but i have had some issues with my shoulder. I haven't really had it looked at by a professional, because i thought it was nothing at first. But i get quite a bit of pain when doing bench press type movements and chest flies, so judging by that i'd assume its a pec injury. Not sure if that would effect the elbow at all though..

Ok, if you have had shoulder and elbow pain you should still get it checked out as it may be a referred pain, either from the neck or the shoulder, going down the arm.
