    Unhappy my mental calf

any of you guys have any idea why my lower calf(sort of near achilles i guess) starts tightening more and more when warming up(jogging) for football? continues til i have to stop cos i am reduced to a man hobblin about? 3 weeks rest then back at it and same again, no actual muscle strain or pull or tear, just tightens and tightens til i give up. ps. i woke in the nite 2 months ago and nearly went thru the ceiling with a severe pain in same calf, felt like agolf ball tryin to burst out of calf, excrutiating, dunno what that was but its still tender now. any connection??? even if no one knows what is wrong, can anybody relate to any of this???

    Hi,

Its very difficult to really tell what is going on without seeing you. It may be a biomechanical problem, meaning extra strain is put on your calf when you run.

I would advise you see someone who knows about sports injuries and especially foot biomechanics and gait problems. You can find a little bit more here:

I would also advise you to stretch the calf on a very regular basis (5 times a day!) to help loosen off the muscle which is almost definately tight. Do both gastrocnemius and soleus stretches:

    Good luck
