    Default Pain in my chest...

    Hi there,

Ive never posted on here before but am hoping that you can help me.
Ive recently started Circus school and am training on the vertical ropes. It involves a lot of pulling yourself up with your arms and uses the core muscles a fair bit as you balance and move and such.

I think I have pushed myself too far - not given my muscles enough time to rest between work outs- as Ive felt quite sore in my arms but particuarly my chest for a week. Then this week when I got on the rope, I had the most awful burning sensation from my sternum to about 10 cms below going down the left side of my rib cage. It is extremely tender to touch, hurts to sit up, cough, sneeze etc.

I just wondered if anybody could enlighten me on what muscle I may have hurt, what I may have done to it and any advice for a speedy recovery. Obviously i havent done any exercise since this happened a few days ago and Ive also been putting a hot water bottle on it occasionally and soaking in the bath. Also is it worth going to my doctor?

    Thanks for your time.

    Hi
It might be an abdominal muscle such as the obliques but its hard to tell.
You need to make sure you rest from this and if it doesn't improve in the next few days then yes, go to your Doctor!

Better take some abdominal muscle exercises to make sure it is not abdominal muscle.
