    Default Problems with my adductor...

To begin, I must admit that I have no idea if my problem is with my brevis, longus, or magnus. Here is what I know. I have a leg length discrepency. Not sure how bad it is, but the massseuse noticed it right away. So my problem is that I a bicycle racer and I have this constant discomfort where the adductor connects to the pelvic bone? My discomfort is located up high between my legs on the right side (same side as my shorter leg).
Occasionally, when I am riding, it will "pop" and releave pressure. The discomfort does not seem to affect my power, it is just always there and annoying. I have had the problem for over 8 months and I have rested it for 2 months only to see the problem come back. I have done some stretching, but I am not sure that I was stretching correctly or enough.

Can I just stretch this out, or do I need to seek help. If I do need to seek help should I see a P.T. or should I see a chiropractor?

Also, I have thought about getting a shim to place under my cleat on my short side in order to offest the discrepency. Not sure abou that either.

I know that my pedal stroke on the right side (short leg side) is not fluid. I have a "hitch" or weird knee pattern which may or may not be part of this same issue.

Is there any way that I could use a lazer pointer or something and determine how bad my discrepency is or whether the problem is due to the femur or the lower leg bones?

    Any advice would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Keith

    Hi
I don't know enough about cycling to be able to offer much advise on that front.
However, I do think you should get some professional treatment and I would start with a PT.
If the leg length difference is contributing which I suspect it might be then this can usually be corrected quite easily with a heel raise in the shoe. I suspect you may also need some hip strengthening programme for the surrounding muscles.
It should be quite straightforward for a therapist to determine both the amount of the discrepancy and also if it is the thigh or shin bones.
