    Default 2nd Metatarsal Pain

    Hi there,

I initially broke my right foot toe, which recovered well....but a few weeks later was giving me pains, I later found out this was damaged ligaments on the sides of the Toe because I had initially stubbed it bad.

I was walking quite awkward putting a lot of pressure on my left foot for weeks...also had a partying holiday for a week....so a lot of pressure on my left foot...

Then one day my 2nd Metatarsal on my left foot was just swollen huge...my foot was swollen and I couldnt bend the toe back at all...it almost felt like a permanent cramp in the toe

Ive made a picture to show where the pain is exactly (if you can visit the link)

The darker red mark shows where the pain is worst......

I went to a Osteopath and he couldn't help me too much...... Ive now seen a podiatrist, he believes the ligaments that joint all of my metatarsals together is damaged, and tomorrow he will be making me something for my trainer (some kind of insole) to arch that part of my foot, and he also put some tape around my foot, to try support the ligaments when my foot is planted...he also suggested to not walk around bare foot even in the house, as the damage is quite bad....

Also it is now happening on the same position in my right foot....possibly again from the way I have been walking....its very painful, and When it initially started I could not walk for a few days unless taking ibuprofen tablets....

If there is anyway you could give me your opinion on what this is/could be?

    Thank you

Agreed that seeing a podiatrist is the best thing you can do.
You should also try to keep your foot, ankle and calf area mobile. Tight calf muscles are a very common contributor to pain in the foot so it may well be worth focusing on stretching these out yourself. It helps your foot to function better.

My calf has lately gotten a bit tight, I think its due to the fact I have been walking differently.

Today the Podiatrist has placed a few things on the insoles of my trainers....It seems to have taken a bit of pressure off my toes....

I just hope I will see a difference in a week or so....

I cant live without Football! lol

    Thanks for the replies
