    Default Annoying foot pain

    Hi.

About a month ago I started getting pain on and around the ball of my left foot.

I hadn't done any exercise for around 4 weeks leading up to it, and cannot remember injuring it in any way. Even when I am working out I am not doing anything that causes repetitive stress on my feet.

The only thing that I have started to do is walk my dogs a farther than normal. A couple of months prior to the pain I increased my walks to around 1.5/2 miles (from around 1 mile) per day for 5/7 days per week.
I am not that much overweight (I could probably do with losing around 10lbs)

However I have always been really active and do not class these walks as my exercise as they are nothing compared to what I'm used to.

I would prefer to try alternative pain relief first before taking any meds.

A friend has advised a few things to try. Insoles for metetarsalgia, magnetic therapy/insoles, MSM, DSMO and Infrared.

I have started taking therapeutic doses (10/15g) of MSM for the last 4 days, but no signs of any easing yet.

I am still walking my dogs, but don't know if I should stop this to give it some rest time. The only reason that I am still continuing is that I was ill over Christmas and didn't take them for 7 days, this rest didn't improve the pain at all.

I am thinking of getting some magnetic insoles and an Infrared massager, but don't want to be wasting money if these are useless (which is what a lot of people are saying on the net).

Is it worth having an X-ray or scan.

    Thanks.

If you haven't been to see your Doctor then I would advise you to do so.
I would personally agree with the opinion that magnets and infrared may not be very effective.
If your doctor is no help, try a Podiatrist.
