    Default Foot/Ankle Running Injury

Hi...Im a 32 y/o male runner. Still fairly new to running, about 2 years. At the end of a 10 mile training run for my second half marathon, I felt pain underneath the outside of my ankle. Felt just like I had rolled my ankle or sprained it. The following week I completed the half marathon. Around mile 5, the pain returned and became more and more intense as the race progressed. To the point where I basically limped across the finish.

I took 2 weeks off of running and bought some arch supports. This was recommended to me by someone knowledgeable but not an expert. This person also believed the pain might be coming from a ligament injury. Now, Ive gone on a few short runs and it feels a little better but the pain returns. Funny thing is there is no swelling or redness.

Ive done a little research online and Im starting to think maybe I should see an expert? Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any recommendations?

    Appreciate the time!

Its always worth investing the time and money to seee a sports injury specialist. It could be ligament related, although normally injuries to these ligaments occur following rolling the ankle. Have you sprained this ankle before?

Other options include peroneal tendon injury or sinus tarsi syndrome. You can find more about both of these here:

Thanks for the response, Heidi! Sinus tarsi syndrome actually sounds like a fit to me. Ive been told I overpronate and have already had a few overuse injuries. Is it something that could appear all of the sudden?
