Default Foot fracture and calf cramp

    Hello,

So, almost 2 weeks ago fractured the 5th metatarsal (the pinky toe) playing basket ball.

I guess the healing is going pretty well, since I don't have any pain.

The only problem I have is that during the night I wake up with cramps in my calf, and when getting up in the morning it takes about 30 minutes before the cramps lessen.

I guess this is because the ankle is fixed and I'm not moving it. I have an aircast on my foot.

Is there any way to make the cramps less severe?

    Thanks!

    Hi
Muscle cramps may be caused by having the ankle immobilised. Are you allowed to take the cast off and do some ankle mobility exercises? If so, I would recommend doing this. Just some ankle circles and gentle calf stretching should help.
Other things for cramp include making sure you are drinking enough water (as they have been linked to dehydration) and getting some sports massage. Find out more here:
