    Default hip pain

    My nephew plays baseball and is experiencing pain in his right hip.X-rays show no problem with the hip but the doctor thinks it could be his knee that is causing the problem.Does anyone know why this would be.

    Hi

    Faulty biomechanics springs to mind. Any problem with the feet, ankles, knees etc can cause problems higher up the chain (i.e. hips/lower back). This may be what the Dr is talking about.

    I would recommend seeing a podiatrist/sports therapist/physio who can assess the position of his lower limb whilst standing, walking,running and jumping. It is important to get this done not only in standing as it is possible that a normal position when standing alters with the forces involved in these other actions (common in baseball)
